Covid Creativity

With limited opportunities for usual Christmas outreach because of Covid restrictions and limitations imposed on gatherings, the Anchor Anglican Church Fowey has found some creative ways to engage their local community.

First with an Advent social media campaign using Engage Worship’s Tiny Advent Poems by Amy Scott Robinson. There are 24 daily posts, each one capturing a sense of waiting, expectation and anticipation, hopefully provoking the question ‘for what?’

Anchor have also devised a Nativity Trail around the town with 12 hidden ‘secret stones’ each one painted with a character from the nativity, a bible verse telling the story and a QR code linking to a 2-3 minute Christmas video (from the Youtube channels for Bible Society, Speak Life, 10ofthose, Faith in Kids and others). The final stone also has a ‘treasure box’ with a Christmas giveaway children’s book.

Traditional Carol Services may not be on the cards this Christmas, but ‘the word of God is not chained’ (2 Timothy 2:9).
