Prayer updates (August 2023)

St Thomas’ Corstorphine, Edinburgh

  • Give thanks for some new families! Pray that they ‘stick’.

  • Pray for new vestry member, Stephen Carter – that our lay leadership will continue to work well together and have a focus on Jesus.

  • Pray that we will have good contact with some yet-to-be-Christian families in the local area.

  • Pray for some more volunteers to join our Care Van team which goes out on the last Sunday of the month.

  • Pray for guest preachers:

    • Stuart Weir on “Dying Well” on 3 September

    • David Pileggi of Christchurch, Jerusalem & CMJ on 10 September

St Silas Church, Glasgow

Give thanks:

  • For Jonathan Middleton starting as our new Assistant Minister.

  • Our Women’s Bible Study has continued to meet over the summer, looking at some Psalms.

  • We had an encouraging visit from Bishop Ian Ferguson in July.

Please pray:

  • For midweek sessions in August on ‘One to One’ word ministry for the whole church family, that the Lord would give more people confidence to have a go at getting the Bible open with someone.

  • That the Lord would raise up more small group leaders, to make room for more people to join in fellowship and small group Bible study.

Westhill Community Church, Aberdeen

Praise:

  • For newcomers to our Sunday services in recent weeks.

  • For God’s calling and gifting to so many of our church family who serve so tirelessly.

  • For the near conclusion of our separation from the SEC.

Prayer:

  • For the Holiday Bible Club 14-18 August run jointly with other churches in Westhill.

  • For God’s guidance as we process applications for a new Rector.

  • For enabling to share the love of Jesus with the growing number of asylum seekers residing locally.
